Dedicated and committed not only to quality care but every aspect of a patients life, I undertake comprehensive assessments, including patients demonstrating diverse, interacting presenting conditions. My Lewisham ward-based placement demanded integrated respiratory, neurological and musculoskeletal care. My educator labelled my assessment and treatment technique selection and skill as outstanding.
Drilled in assessing acutely unwell patients through ICU simulations at KCL and St John’s Ambulance, I utilised this skill extensively in multiple surgical and medical wards and a 5-week Lewisham ICU/HDU placement.
My extensive experience with the elderly stretches beyond clinical practice, through voluntary work in addition to placements, providing a Tai Chi class and one-to-one therapy for Parkinsonian and geriatric patients with musculoskeletal pathologies respectfully. On my annual leave, I ran classes for patients at risk of falls and travelled into the Homerton to help an existing falls class.
I am inspired, and keen to engage in elderly care at Lewisham. Hardworking, I always work late, ensuring patients are safely positioned.
I routinely identify insidious pathologies and am proactive in these situations. At Lewisham’s Musculoskeletal Outpatients, I assessed someone with severe cervical pain, an HIV positive partner, ataxia, impaired reflexes and sensation. After discussing the present complaint and PMH with a specialised physiotherapist, I contacted his GP. Checking for TB, we arranged and analysed a full spinal MRI.
Previous supervisors commended my skill in treating and assessing those with complex neurological impairments or who do not speak English as their first language in outpatient, inpatient and community settings,
I link pathophysiology with safe, evidence-based, high-quality treatment, delivering quality care. Through commended literature, NICE and CSP guidelines, I developed an algorithm matching diagnostic findings to core impairments to a range of adjuscts.
Flexible and driven, I have performed professionally, early in the morning, at weekends and late into the evening.
