My Profile Summary
Please contact me for an up-to-date copy of my resume:
I am a licenced HCPC and MCSP registered Physiotherapist with an MSc in Sports Medicine from the University of Central Lancashire. My undergraduate studies included rigorous clinical training, which involved 1260 hours of practical experience across various departments. I gained a wide range of clinical skills and a thorough grasp of physiotherapy procedures. The breakup of my clinical placements and experience is as follows: General Medicine (PTCD) - 112 hours, Surgery (General Surgery, Plastic Surgery, burns, Oncology) - 120 hours, Physiotherapy Outpatient Department (Neuro Sensory Development Unit/PT OPD/General Medicine) – 384 hours, Intensive Care Unit (CU/CTS) – 192 hours, Community Physiotherapy (Geriatrics/Physiotherapy Camp & Chetana Child Development Centre/Paediatric Camp) - 208 hours, Neurosciences (Neurology & Neurosurgery) – 192 hours, Orthopaedics – 192 hours. I worked autonomously and under the supervision of senior physiotherapists and post-graduates across the university hospitals. I handled referrals from GPs and consultants which included various presentations including post-surgical cases and pain syndromes. I perform detailed subjective assessments, gathering comprehensive information on symptom behaviour and patient history to inform effective treatment planning. This is followed by objective assessments and physical testing, forming the basis for sound clinical reasoning. I maintain a tidy and organised workstation, ensuring all equipment is sanitized and stored properly after each session. Throughout my role, I encourage patient autonomy by providing appropriate exercise programs and progressing goals accordingly. I am committed to delivering patient-centred care and actively applying evidence-based practices. My treatment plans are evidence-based, informed by the latest research, and combined with thorough assessment techniques to provide high-quality, patient-centred care. I prioritise the effective organisation of my caseload, seeking assistance when needed and working collaboratively with my colleagues. As an active member of the multi-disciplinary team (GP, Specialists, PT, OT, nursing staff and case manager), quality assurance and audit team, I participate in handovers, case reviews, discussions, and presentations, and share progress with colleagues and senior staff. Additionally, to yield the highest quality care, I take ownership of my self-development in all necessary areas (exercise prescription, gait and balance re-training and functional re-training for essential activities like bed mobility, stair ambulation, vehicle transfers and general accessibility. Furthermore, I engage in delegating duties, training and educating junior staff and assistant physiotherapists on relevant therapy techniques, hospitals and information for maintaining a streamlined service. I effectively communicate complex and sensitive information including honest realistic prognosis, advice and education on the treatment practices to the patient, family and caregivers. A comprehensive evaluation and outcome measures (Berg balance scale, TUG test) were administered both initially and shortly before discharge. I write detailed analyses, problem lists, SMART goals and comprehensive treatment plans including risk assessments, for every patient. I am proud of my ability to present information clearly while adhering to POMR standards and maintaining meticulous documentation in EPR. To ensure clear communication, my notes are accurate, well-structured, and grammatically correct. I formulate realistic, safe and timely discharge plans, make referrals to other services and make detailed discharge letters describing the treatment plan, goals achieved, recommendations, and social and home situations/ risks for the patient. My flexibility allows me to adapt to changing circumstances efficiently, and my empathetic and nature helps patients feel understood and supported, improving their engagement with treatment.
