My Profile Summary
Please contact me for an up-to-date copy of my resume:
Hello,
I have recently completed my integrated masters in Physiotherapy from Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh. Having spent four years dedicated to learning this profession and working part-time for the NHS in Glasgow, I am truly excited to be applying for this role.
Throughout my time at university, I have had a wide variety of placements including Neurorehabilitation, Community Respiratory (Paediatrics), Physio@home (Lothian Adult Community Services), MSK and Medical. Most recently, I completed my elective placement in the Acute Respiratory Team at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee. I am very grateful to have been allocated such a diverse range of placements in which I have gained a great breadth of experience. I have enjoyed each of them greatly and am looking forward to building on the skills and knowledge in the role of Rotational Physiotherapist.
My dissertation was a qualitative analysis of user perspectives on the use of a newly designed shoe aimed at reducing the effects of footdrop in people with conditions such as MS and stroke.
It is my belief that a Physiotherapist must be approachable, adaptable, empathetic, and understanding of their duty of care to provide a professional, evidence-based way of practice for all patients who come under our care. As a newly qualified Physiotherapist, I understand the importance of continuous personal development and am committed to making this a prominent part of my practice to develop my skills, knowledge and competence. I firmly believe that doing so is the only way to ensure I can practice safely and effectively.
Outwith my university course, I have worked as a healthcare support worker (nursing assistant) within the NHS service in Glasgow since 2021. In this role, I have developed my communication skills with patients and staff members alike. This job has given me an understanding of a ward based patients 24-hour day in a care setting which I feel has benefitted my practice greatly, allowing me to develop a unique therapeutic relationship with those under my care.
Due to the nature of working on the nursing bank I am very comfortable fitting in with new teams daily. This will benefit me greatly when fitting in with a new team in this role. I have also gained valuable experience working in multiple different ward settings across sites in Glasgow. I believe the skills I have learned from this post will be transferable to my future career as a physiotherapist.
Since June 2023 I have been working as a physiotherapy assistant for a private company within an orthopaedic setting. In this role I have worked alongside an experienced MDT in an ANP led unit helping to promote an ERAS protocol for patients following elective joint replacement
I have also been working independently as a sports massage therapist and pitch side first aid for different rugby clubs in Scotland since 2021 which has helped consolidate my manual skills (massage, peripheral joint assessment) and anatomical knowledge.
I hold a full UK driving license.
Thank you for taking the time to review my application and I hope to hear from
